Christos Michalakelis

Assistant Professor, Harokopio University of Athens, Department of Informatics & Telematics

Christos Micahalakelis, holds a BSc in Mathematics, an MSc in Software Engineering and an MSc in Administration and Economics of Telecommunication Networks. He also holds a PhD degree, from the University of Athens, Greece, in the area of techno-economics, specializing in demand estimation and forecasting of high technology products and market competition.
Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics and Telematics, Harokopio University of Athens (DIT/HUA) in the area of Techno-economic Analysis of Communications Networks and Information Systems, teaching courses related to techno-economics of high technology markets and investments assessment, economics of the digital technology, mathematics and business plan development, both at the Harokopio University and at the University of Piraeus, Greece.
His research interests include the incorporation of evolutionary theory and population dynamics concepts to estimate and forecast diffusion and competition in high technology market, providing accurate results, regarding forecasting and competition in communication networks and information systems. He also focused on the construction of price indices for Information and Telecommunication Technologies (ICT), like broadband access services and leased lines. Following his PhD he extended his area of interest to include the study of digital convergence and the diffusion Open Source Software (OSS) and its influence to the growth of e-government.
Later on and after been elected as a Lecturer at DIT/HUA, he focused on the study and research of the cloud computing business model, the Internet of Things (IoT) and the System of Systems (SoS) from the technoeconomics engineering perspective. He coordinates a research team, consisting of faculty members, postdoctorals and PhD candidates, focusing on ICT and the development of a framework including the forecasting of demand for services/ products, competition, application of economic theories, modeling of processes, construction of price indices, estimation of total cost of ownership (TCO), return on investments (ROI), energy efficiency and resource allocation, etc. The team’s expertise is supported by the authored papers in scientific journals, papers presented to conferences and book chapters.
